THIS WEEK IN PERFORMING ARTS...

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENTS
The Higher National Diploma Year 2 & Level 3 Year 2 students take part in a
Character Make-Up Workshop for their alternative fairytale 'The Longest Night 2:
At Leigh Sixth Form the Performing Arts Students begin filming their Issue-Based Short Film 'Word on the Street':
 The Higher National Diploma Year 1 students begin their Contemporary Dance Choreography Assessments:
 The Higher National Diploma Year 2 students have been developing choreography
for their alternative fairytale production 'The Longest Night 2':
In addition the group asked Polish student Peter Holda to help with incorporating
Polish language into the vampire dialogue.
Performing Arts & Creative Media Production 90 Credit Students begin their on-location filming
for their 'One Night In Manchester' Urban Drama:

THIS WEEK IN PERFORMING ARTS...

DEVISING, REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE...
Level 3 Year 1 Physical Theatre DV8 Study - Choreography Assessment.
The group have looked at the work of DV8 Physical Theatre and created their own Issue-Based Choreography:
Level 3 Year 2 Location Filming for the 'Road' Inspired Project.
The group have created their own short film to accompany their theatre project:
 Higher National Diploma Year 1 - Innovative Theatre
The group have created Black-Out Poetry as part of their 'Haunted' Experimental Theatre Project:
Level 3 Year 2 'Road' Inspired Project - After Show Character Photographs.
The group have studied the play 'Road' by Jim Cartwright and devised their own Issue-Based production set in 2015:

THE MARCH OPEN DAY

PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS
TAKE PART IN A 3 HOUR IMPROVISATION FOR OPEN DAY VISITORS
 The group were given numerous character & scenario starting points in a non-stop improvisation over three hours.
 The styles included Melodrama, Science Fiction, Comedy-Horror, Television Shows and Issue-Based Status Battles.
The session was designed to give Open Day visitors an example of some of the working methods used
to devise performance on the Performing Arts Courses.

LEVEL 3 YEAR 1

SELF DEVISED ISSUE BASED PERFORMANCE
Over the last five weeks the students have developed their own ideas for characters
and scenarios, used scriptwriting techniques to create cue scripts, explored the process of sound design 
and taken on stage management roles to organise props and costume.  
In the final stages they took part in a theatre lighting workshop with theatre technician Neill Carter.

 Higher National Diploma Year 2 Original Choreography for their 'Longest Night 2' Alternative Fairy Tale:
 The Level 3 Year 2 take part in Melodrama Skills Workshops In preparation for their end of year production:

LEVEL 3 YEAR 2 - CHARITY EVENT

WEAR SOMETHING BRIGHT
The Level 3 Year 2 Perform a dance to a Sam Smith track for the 'Wear Something Bright'
Charity Event to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.  The group wanted to do something
  different to raise awareness, so Amber Jarvis offered to sing live while the rest of the group
 performed a lyrical dance piece.  The dance was created in just a week and is a result of their hard work. 
This performance is in memory of Gemma Roberts and we were privileged to have her mum at the performance.

The group are Recording Voice Overs & Creating Sound Design
for their Issue Based Production.
