FINAL STAGES OF PREPARATION FOR THE 'VICTORIAN GOTHIC' PERFORMANCES
Dance & Drama Students team up with Media Students for the Multi-Media Project.
Over the course of the last 6 weeks Dance, Drama & Media students have been working on creating material for their
'Victorian Gothic' performances based on macabre stories and poetry from the Victorian era.
The creative process began with a series of practical skills workshops to explore Text Analysis and Performance Skills.
Following this the students were given the opportunity to take on the role of Directors.
Media students organised themselves into Production Teams, taking on roles to produce material to be incorporated into the live performance.
The project has also explored the process of creating an appropriate atmosphere for the performance through Lighting and Set Design.
In addition the Dance & Drama students have designed and created masks which have a symbolic function through their use in key scenes.
This week the Level 3 Year 1&2 casts will take part in Technical Rehearsals to prepare Lighting and Sound Cues
followed by Dress Rehearsals ahead of the performances in one week's time.
The project has examined the complete creative process from concept to performance.
