CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR ROUND UP

A BUSY END TO LAST YEAR AND A BUSY START TO 2017!
THE LEVEL 2 & LEVEL 3 YEAR 1  - CHRISTMAS SPECIALS!
In their final sessions of 2016, as part of their Devising Performance Work and Storytelling as Performance Units the Level 2 and Level 3 Year 1 examined characters and scenarios typical of TV. soaps.  They then went on to create a series of humorous Christmas Specials...
'DEAD TURKEY'S DON'T LIE'
'ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS...'
HND YEAR 1 - ARTAUD AND EDGAR ALLEN POE INSPIRED CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCE / INSTALLATION:
As part of their Physical Theatre Unit HND Year 1 students have been exploring the depths of Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty.  They have examined actor and audience relationship as well as the effects of a multi-sensory performance space.  In addition to this work the group are also in the process of creating material for a Solo Innovative Contemporary Performance and examining the work of contemporary theatre artists.
LEVEL 3 YEAR 1 - CONTEMPORARY DEVISING PROJECT
The Level 3 Year 1 Performing Arts Group performed 'Honest Life' the first piece for the Contemporary Devising Project as part of their Storytelling as Performance Unit.  Each week the students will provide a starting point and within a single session they will explore their idea integrating Drama, Dance and Technical Elements to produce a short work in progress performance.  Thanks to Shane for this one which started with a £5 note and explored issues and attitudes associated with money.
LEVEL 2 - 'THE MOTLEY RABBLE LAUGHTER SHOW!'
The Level 2 Performing Arts group had their Casting, Read Through and Character Workshop in preparation to commencing the production of their comedy: 'The Motley Rabble Laughter Show!'  The piece is set in 1901 and focuses on the on-stage and off-stage exploits of a wacky travelling theatre company made up of circus, music hall and silent cinema acts typical of the Vaudeville era.  The piece is an original play specifically written for the current cast for their Scripted Plays and Acting Techniques Units.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST PANTOMIME - ON TOUR!
Before Christmas WSA Performing Arts worked with Graham Tudor of Tread Theatre to produce a version of the popular pantomime.  We recently took it out on tour to Lowton High School where it was well received.  Thank you for having us, Lowton.  You're an awesome crowd!
