'THE MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING' EVENT
The Level 3 Years 1&2 begin working on their first Assessment: 'Creating Character and Scenarios.'
The performance is due to take place as part of 'The Macmillan Coffee Morning Event' in aid of Cancer Research.
For this Assignment the students have been given the task to create a dramatic character based on a real person and then devise serious and comic scenarios the character might appear in.
Their suggestions will then form the Starting Points for an Improvised Performance Game.
During the project the groups will take part in a series of practical workshops exploring fundamental performance theories which the students will develop throughout their course:
Stanislavski's 'System' for Creating Character, Mike Leigh's Devising Scenarios Methods and a thorough exploration of how Status Battles can be converted from real life to a theatrical context.
The content of the sessions also explores social interaction and how dramatic performance can raise awareness of
important issues in the community.
The project promotes creativity and self expression, provides an opportunity for the students to discuss issues important to their generation and develop personal and team skills transferable to professional careers.
